  1. Such breathtaking beauty, striking colors, all shouting JOY of living.

The first thought on those blue flowers was lupine so I googled and think that might be what they are, but I'm no expert and have never grown them.

Thank you for sharing some of California's magnificent beauty.

  4. Tanya, The blue plant seen along California's Central Coast is Pride of Madeira 'echium candicans'. It is at its most beautiful this time of year. Not a native, but from island of Madeira, and I believe it can be invasive. Your photos are beautiful!

  10. What a lovely pictures of California flowers, so beautiful.......I know the blue/purples, they are Echium cultivars, called Pride of Madeira. I have sown them once from seed bought in Madeira. I had them in my greenhouse and put them in summer outside, they are really spectacular, but alltogether our climate is not perfect for these plants, so after 2 seasons or so they disappeared and I have not tried it again.

  14. Wow! Just gorgeous. No wonder that part of California is so expensive. I am in love with the echium and must check to see if I can grow it here. I sincerely doubt it.
