Garden Views in the Middle of May
After a two week trip to Europe, this is what I see in my garden.
Rhododendron 'Honey Butter' is still blooming!
Rhododendron 'Honey Butter' is still blooming!
There can't be too many alliums in the garden!
Weigela 'Wine and Roses' is starting to bloom:
I was afraid I could miss this bloom (Meconopsis sheldonii):
Scilla peruviana:
Alliums are the stars in my terrace garden. That is why there are so many pictures of them.
Columbines are among those plants that spread easily and are problem-free:
Lupins are great, and I'd love to have some low-growing varieties:
Clematis blooms remind me of water lilies' flowers before they open:
Yes to clematis montana in my garden! After the dramatic haircut this spring, it blooms well:
I was surprised to see these tulip flowers since the plants were blooming two weeks ago before we went on our trip:
The size of the blooms is very impressive:
If I'm not mistaken, this is Meconopsis betonicifolia. I moved two plants from another location where they were sitting for a couple of years without blooming :
Forget-me-nots are blooming and seeding. I'll need to watch the seedlings. They can take over the whole garden!
And Thalictrum rochebrunianum (Meadow rue) looks very promising behind the little statue:

A day later, and I'd miss my blue poppy blooms:
Euphorbia always pleases me as a perfect companion for so many plants!
First thing after coming home, I cut a bouquet of lilac branches. Aroma is fantastic!
Freshly cut lawn makes the whole garden look better:
This is a feature in my garden that I haven't designed: clematis montana crawling on the fir tree and creating an arch:
Saxifrage blooms:
Beauty and the beast: beautiful azalia and prickly monkey puzzle tree:
The cat is treating some veggies with a lovely tune: I planted radish, green peas, lettuce, terragon, broccoli, cabbage, kale.
This is our older dog:
He is my garden partner:
All in all, I am pleased with how the garden managed to live without its owners for half of a month!
