February Field. Oregon

The picture was taken from a moving car
Or should I call it 'February Sky'?
This picture, taken on the 18th of February in Central Oregon, hypnotizes me. Time will come, and these wheels start turning, sprinklers will come to life and water will moisten dry soil. But, right now everything is still, quiet and sleepy. The sky is dramatic. I can imagine an alien spaceship appearing from it and landing here. Do you see what I mean?

  1. Though its dark, there is a sense of beauty on it.
I wonder whether its the storm clouds or evening sunset moment.
Those wheels do give a perspective in the distance.

  5. Yes, I can see your shot as the opening scene of a movie about an alien invasion! In fact, the excellent composition of your photo could give rise to many stories.

But all the snow! I thought Oregon should be gearing up for spring by now!

  9. Until you pointed out that those wheels were for irrigation, I thought *they* looked a little alien. Lovely photo.

  10. I live in Eastern Oregon and see this kind of a scene everyday on my way to town. And I'm tired of it/winter. Your perspective/to see the beauty in it is something I should consider.

  15. What a fabulous picture Tatyana. The vastness of the open field and stormy sky makes an amazing shot. I will be glad when those wheels are moving and watering which will mean warm weather.

  18. February's snow is great moisture! This sky looks as if it could bring more snow too. I love the swirling of the clouds.
We have a snow storm this evening....much better than ice.
I hope to see your field in a month. I bet Spring will be in full swing.

  23. Wonderful sky, but I am impressed that the agricultural sprinklers are set so much lower than ours. Yours would send more water to the ground and the roots, ours spray so much to waste!

  24. It's a very beautiful picture - but I needed to be told what it is of. I've never seen a watering system like this.
