Skies In Three States. April 2010

These three pictures of the sky were taken in three states.
The first one shows a sunset in California, the second one is a view from our hotel window of a sunset in Nevada, and the last picture shows Utah's sky.

Death Valley, California. Mystical, isn't it?
*

Can it be called majestic? And there is a bit of a mystery here too, like an alien spaceship is about to emerge from behind the clouds.
*

I like the huge shadows on the ground cast by the enormous clouds.
*
Which one do you like more?

  1. Wow, they're all beautiful! My favorite is the first one in California - it is very mystical.

  2. At times we can read a word out of the cloud formation, or a face or something meaningful. I like the spaceship!

  3. Hello Tatyana,

They are all just beautiful, but I would have to choose the sky over Death Valley. In the summer, it is a time of celebration in the desert when the sun sets.

  4. Tatyana, beautiful landscape photos! and each quite stunning, but I am partial to #1 and #3. I love the expanse of mountain ranges. Welcome back from Nevada and happy you had a great time. Have a wonderful weekend. It's supposed to be beautiful here in the PNW. Diana

  13. Have to agree with The Retired One, said exactly the sane words.
What's going on in Nevada? That is so mysterious.

  15. I like the colours in the second one best. It does look like a sky scene which would be used in a film.

  20. All gorgeous skies. I love, love looking at great shots like these. That second picture looks just like a scene from the sci-fy film Independence Day!

  21. They are all wonderful photos and it took a while to choose....but I think #1, something about the sun's rays and the contrast of the dark stone. It is kind of mystical.

  22. Love 'em all, but nothing says the SW like cloud shadows! Why don't we get those here? Or do we, and I just never notice?

  23. Wow, great pictures! I completely agree that the 2nd shot looks like a spaceship is about to land.

  24. Hi Tatyana - it's hard to pick one because each of the photos is so different and unique. The California sunset is majestic - the Utah sky so powerful - the Nevada sunset a little eery - where's the spaceship? Lovely pictures.

  25. Hi Tatyana

Well Death Valley is my favourite. You've really taken a good shot!

  26. I love skies because no matter where you are, whether separated from loved ones or not, you can be sure we are all under the same sky. It unites us-as you showed in your lovely pictures amongst the states.

  27. I think the first one looks more mysterious to me.

  29. Love the blues, grays, and tawny colors in the Utah shot. I had to laugh when I saw one pic was from Death Valley. As a child I drove through there with my family and that was the hottest place I had ever been. Our A/C was broken and I thought we were going to die. What an Alaska wimp I was (and am).

  31. Hello Tatyana, i am also back from my detour. Your 3 skies are all stunning on their own, of course, "...in the eye of the beholder". Your skill in photography can really make the difference in showing the emotion of the photo; mystical, enchanting, provocative, etc. I love them.
