'Bainbridge in Bloom' Garden Tour: "Gardening with Glass Art"

This is the third post showing the 'Bainbridge in Bloom' Garden Tour -2018, supporting cultural organizations and artists of Bainbridge Island, Washington state.
The garden of  Suzann Demianew, glass artist and instructor, greeted guests with an explosion of color, statuesque plants, luxurious blooms and, of course, glass ornaments.

The terraced front garden invited us to follow lizard stepping stones and admire delphiniums, roses, and peony that were in their blooming peak, right for the time of the tour!

You can see Seattle on the other side

That was just the beginning. The back garden was full of pleasant surprises.

Moon Gate  invited guests to follow the path with an elegant border on the left
and a pond on the right. Its brown color repeats itself in the screen frames,
bench, foliage, metal heron and other garden elements.

Very healthy looking Podophyllum pleianthum x versipelle (Chinese Mayapple), planted in 2016

 Mini-hosta border was very impressive

Bletilla striata (Hyacinth orchid, Chinese ground orchid)

Meconopsis (Himalayan blue poppy)

Hosta, epimedium, heuchera and other foliage plants created lovely tapestry

Cypripedium Deitrich (Dietrich Hardy Ladyslipper Orchid)
Never in my life have I seen such a robust clump of  Cypripedium!

Suzann's Birds of Paradise

How do you like these hosta leaves and glass sculptures' color play?

Isn't it wonderful?

Cut trees stumps join tall delphiniums and oriental & calla lilies as well as glass sculptures.

Going back to the front garden:

I could see how happy visitors were to be greeted with such a colorful garden on a rather gray June day.
Thank you Suzann, for creating such a lovely garden and sharing it with us!

  2. You wrote my very thought when I came to the orchid clump. Amazing. It seems all of her plants are huge and healthy looking. I like the glass but glass in the garden is not for me. I am death on glass anyplace.

  5. Wow! An incredible garden full of wonder. I love the excellent placement of the glass so that it enhances rather than distracts from the plants. That orchid clump is impressive.
