Live Chicken, Green Bottles, Vegetables-on-a-Truck, etc.

Live chickens and goats, raised beds and birch trellises, rain barrels and
vegetables-in-a-truck....

*
Fairy tale countryside at the Northwest Flower and Garden Show (February 3-7, 2010).
*
*
We know a bottle tree with gorgeous blue bottles, but what about green ones?
Do you see green bottles in the lower right corner?

*
Aah... - visitors were sighing looking at a picture-perfect shed and a charming garden around it.
*
A bean tower made from thin bamboo is not stable enough? Birch supports look great. But don't cut trees just for this purpose, please.

*
Outdoor kitchen and giant pencils?

*
See a live goat to the right from the shed? "Why are all these people staring at me? Haven't they seen a goat before? And what are these bright flashing lights? Aaaa, those are garden bloggers taking pictures of me... I will be a star. Maa..."
*
Is it a chicken coop? Yes, it is! And a live chicken which surely will tell stories to its friends after the show is over.

*
Fancy...
*
*
Grass smoothie?

*
I saw trucks filled with shrubs and flowering plants before. This old Mazda truck hosts a whole vegetable garden.

*

*
Hmmm...- Said a man, looking at the chicken behind the driver's seat, - But who will clean the cab?

*
The imagination of the show participants is limitless. They made a vegetable garden and a backyard with a chicken coop the stars of the show.

  2. There are some great ideas for planting and I love the use of the truck as a vegetable garden too!

Is that a cobalt blue rain chain hanging from the shed? It would look perfect on my not-yet-finshed tea house :)

  3. Glad you posted some photos of the PNW Garden Show, Tatyana. I've had flu too bad to go and have been wondering what I missed. Would love to see some more photos.

  4. Now I feel better about the grill and lawn mower sitting in my full sun gardens!! I love everything in this post!!

  5. Lovely. I rather like the shed. We've been designing a hybrid shed/greenhouse (on paper) here, to build later this summer. The coop is cute...but I'm afraid around here it wouldn't last 10 seconds. We have some rather large predators around here! Very cute though!

  6. What was the motto of this show? Somehow trucks and cars don't jive with gardening for me, even if they're full of vegetables and chickens, but then each to his own. I do love the shed.

  7. Beautiful! We have indeed used River Birch trunks as a tepee before, but they grow like weeds here and we have a *lot* of trees. I love the little cart that's converted to a cold frame, the trellis on the side of the garden shed (with all of the circles), the blue rain chain and the giant colored pencils. Usually I'm not too crazy about garden shows but this is very whimsical and creative. There's always so much to see in your posts, Tatyana.

  8. There are enough rusty old trucks in this area to make a few gardens lol.

    Great pics!

  9. Great show, great pictures. I have green bottles soaking right now to get the labels off.

Thank you for visiting my blog earlier and for your nice comment.

    Have a great weekend.

  10. Fairy tale is about right, this is definitely fantasy for most people. My town won't allow chickens, much less goats. I like the giant pencils and the repurposed old window painted bright green. That's a good way to spruce up a cold frame.

  14. I love garden shows. It is always amazing at the ideas people come up with. How I would love that shed as a potting shed at my house. It even has a rain barrel.
It is good to see things growing. Have a wonderful weekend.

  15. Wow! Some extremely creative people sure had fun with the exhibit! Each photo had a number of different things that I just loved. I do like the sections of galvanized pipe with the 'pencils' stuck inside :^) Thank you for sharing such incredible photos!

  16. Looks like you had a great time at the Flower and Garden Show. Hoping to get to one this winter....I am a lightweight when it comes to traveling over an hour when we have lots of snow. Just doesn't seem worth it. I can live vicariously through your photos!!

  24. These were two of my favorites, you show them off to great advantage here. I saw one of those chickens lay an egg in the truck's cab, which was pretty funny but I wondered if she would have liked a little more privacy! :) Hope you had fun at the show.

  25. Looks like great fun! With the rain pouring down here, I was thinking what good drainage that truck bed must have...

  31. Uh, i regret being late here, it was such a splendid garden show, back to the old scenes ha! I can imagine the big area devoted to this garden show, and maybe just one day of visit is not enough, especially for the details. Maybe you got lots of memory in your camera, lol. I already commented on the newest post before this, and both entries were inspiring.

  32. A wonderful Garden Show! We have one coming up but our Garden Shows are pretty much a bust. Sigh, Nothing such as you are showing today. You are so lucky to have a show of this magnitude. I am sure there is a good one in Atlanta and some day, I will make that 2 hour drive to attend. Some great ideas come from such shows. The Veggie Garden Truck and Chicken Coup are too funny….
